This school year my class will focus on teaching the children basic math equations, phonics, penmanship and writing their name. Each child will learn about character traits such as happiness, joy, thankfulness, love, friendship, assurance, courage, and compassion.... Your child will have Learning Themes: Letters, Numbers, Colors, Shapes, and Science. The goal for this class is to incorporate the love of God showing the child he /she is Special!

In the month of September, we will learn how to be happy with ourselves. All of us were made in God’s image. We will discuss the great things God has done for us.  We will introduce many concepts such items we use every day that are in the shape of a circle. We will discuss good foods vs. bad foods and how they can help us to grow. God created us and made our bodies special. We will learn how to be clean and take care of our bodies.

THINGS TO DO AT HOME WITH YOUR CHILD:

1.   Help your child develop the concept of how to be happy. Discuss the many things that he/she might make them happy. Provide things that are of interest to them.

2.   Discuss that eating right will help them grow to be healthy.

3.   Discuss the importance of taking care of their bodies.

In the month of October, we will learn about the joy of the Lord. We will discuss the different ways we can find joy here on earth but most of all finding joy by accepting Jesus in our hearts. 
We will introduce many concepts such items we use every day that are shaped in a square. We will discuss certain types of animals who hibernate or prepare for winter. God created different types of animals with different needs.

THINGS TO DO AT HOME WITH YOUR CHILD:

1.       Help your child develop the concept of how to find joy. Discuss the many things that he/she might make them joyful. Show your child the things that make you joyful.

2.       Discuss reasons why as humans we have to prepare for winter by dressing up warm or buying warm clothing.

3.       Discuss the importance of staying dry and how we can prevent colds.

We will introduce many concepts such items we use every day that are in the shape of a triangle. We will discuss tools we will need for cooking such as soups, salads, beef, poultry, and fish. Later we will discuss how we can make desserts which require special stirring tools.

1.       Help your child develop the concept of how to be thankful. Discuss the many things that he/she is thankful for.

2.       Discuss that having the right cooking tools can make cooking easy.

3.       Discuss the importance of taking time to cook.

We will discuss the different Christmas patterns and shapes we see around us. We will learn how to create our own patterns out of different type of materials.

THINGS TO DO AT HOME WITH YOUR CHILD:

1.       Help your child develop the concept what is love. Discuss the many things that he/she loves whether a family member, animals, or toys. Provide things that they would love or take care of.

2.       Discuss that loving a person or thing sometimes takes time.

3.       Create a pattern with your child as an art project.

1.       Help your child develop the concept of what is friendship. Discuss the many things that he/she can do to make a friend with another child.

2.       Discuss that being a friend is not to harm or hurt a friend.

We will discuss the great things God has shown his kindness.  We will introduce many concepts such items we use every day that are in the shape of an oval. We will discuss how the sun and clouds can cause a shadow effect or take an object and change its shape.

THINGS TO DO AT HOME WITH YOUR CHILD:

1.       Help your child develop the concept of how to be kind. Discuss the many things that he/she can do to be kind to a relative, friend, or stranger. Provide things the child can use as an example to demonstrate kindness. Explain to the child by using nice words shows kindness.

2.       Play a game with your child to see if you can find your shadow.

3.       See if you can find objects that change their shapes.

THINGS TO DO AT HOME WITH YOUR CHILD:

1.       Help your child develop the concept of how to find peace. This is not easy to explain but is part of being happy or contentment. Discuss the many things that he/she might make them happy. Provide things that make your child feel safe.

2.       Discuss that there are different tool you can use to make a garden.

3.       Do a project together with your child like planting a vegetable or plant in a pot.

God created animals for us to take care of but to also enjoy their companionship. We will learn ways how to take care of our pets.

THINGS TO DO AT HOME WITH YOUR CHILD:

1.       Help your child develop the concept of what it is to be compassionate. Discuss the many things that he/she might make them help others.

2.       Discuss how they can take care of their pets.

3.       Have your child feed their pet or hand feed ducks at a park.
